Welcome to Mar Augusthinose College

from Principal's Desk

Greetings from Mar Augusthinose College

The higher education scenario worldwide now witnesses far-reaching developments, changes, innovations and diversifications. The destiny of any nation depends on the growth of its higher education policy and the number of young empowered with knowledge. Education, according to Gandhiji is “a continuing process from the moment we are born until we die”. Zarathustra, the holy book of Zoroastrians, emphasizes education's significant role in everyone’s life. It says “Man is a formless mass, a rock without definite shape that awaits a sculptor”. The teachers are the sculptors, entrusted with the divine task of chiseling and moulding students, shaping them and infusing a new life into them. Teachers are akin to Prof. Higgins of Pygmalion who perform wonders and miracles on students entrusted to their care. Education of course begins at home, the mother laying its foundation and the educators are the supplements. Teachers shall not be mere puppets in academic gowns attempting to catch shadows in a net but real gurus, instructors, mentors, spiritual Guides friends and philosophers. We live in an age of accelerating changes and innovations in all spheres of life; higher education is no exception. Gone is the abject notion that teaching is nothing more than the process of imparting information to some who do not know. Teachers must introduce changes and innovations in the teaching, learning and evaluation process. A teacher can never teach unless he is learning himself, for man is the measure of all things; he is the future of man and the world. The very existence of man as man is due to his power to think, “Cogito ergo Sum” as Descartes puts it. We, the Augustinians, are always at the forefront because of our innovative teaching pedagogies, the way we teach and the way we learn. We always are engaged in the task of creating a non-violent and non-exploitative society with bright cultivated motivate and integrated individuals inspired by love for humanity and guided by wisdom as evidenced by our vision and mission. Mar Augusthinose College is a luminous example of an education institution that has successfully accomplished its objective of providing quality education to all.
